ALLAN TOUVOLI

Born in 2002 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, Allan Touvoli is an artist whose practice unfolds at the intersection of various audiovisual media.

After studying economics in Dijon, France, he settled in the historic city of Grand-Bassam, Côte d'Ivoire, in 2023.

Heir to an intimate photographic practice passed down by his father, who documented family life through its celebrations, Allan Touvoli has developed a deeply self-taught and independent approach. A practicing Christian, his work is rooted in the fundamental beauty of encountering the other, his neighbour in the evangelical sense of the term. His practice is shaped through a relationship of intimacy, in which the artist, the subject, and the viewer each seem to recognize both a personal and a shared expression of a common humanity.

At the intersection of contemporary art and documentary photography, Allan Touvoli portrays, through inhabited scenes of everyday life, the different sociological strata that shape Côte d'Ivoire's historic cities. His images bring to life a multiplicity of subjects whose presence, each in its own way, speaks to the social, cultural, and spiritual realities of a territory in constant transformation.
